Why should I take this programme?

Those who wish to be marketable and relevant in any industry should choose to pursue accounting programmes. With the specific knowledge offered in various areas in accounting we are able to produce competent and dedicated professional accountants who possess all the required attributes by the industry.

The Economic Transformation Program aimed to produce 60,000 accountants in the country by 2020, but this target was not achieved. According to the latest data from the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), there were 38,500 members as of June 2023. This indicates a shortage of accountants in Malaysia. The data also shows that with 38,500 members serving Malaysia's population of approximately 33.2 million, each accountant serves about 874 people, giving a population-to-accountant ratio of 1:871.

What will I learn?

This program program provides a comprehensive foundation in financial and management accounting, auditing, taxation, and applied analytics. The Financial Accounting and Reporting series develops students’ understanding of accounting principles, financial statement preparation, and reporting standards in increasing depth and complexity. Management Accounting I and II focus on cost analysis, budgeting, and decision-making techniques for internal management purposes. The Audit I and II courses introduce auditing principles, procedures, and professional ethics essential for assurance engagements. Taxation I and II cover the fundamentals of tax laws, computations, and compliance for individuals and corporations. Supporting courses such as Accounting Information Systems and Analytics for Accounting equip students with technical and analytical skills for modern accounting practices. The program culminates in the Integrated Case Study, where students apply their cumulative knowledge to real world business and financial scenarios, demonstrating their readiness for professional practice.
