KLUST Partners with UiTM Sarawak and Digiland to Establish the ASEAN–Sarawak AI Innovation Centre

Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology (KLUST) is pleased to announce its strategic collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak Branch and Digiland Pte. Ltd. following a high-level meeting and MoU signing held at UiTM Sarawak, Samarahan Campus 2.
The KLUST delegation was led by Professor Chen Xiaoyun, Chairman of the Board of Directors, accompanied by Professor Dr. David Ngo Chek Ling, President and Vice-Chancellor, and Ms. Wong Yee Kuai, Chief Operating Officer. Digiland Pte. Ltd. was represented by its Managing Director, Mr. Henry Teh Kok Kheng, who is also the Founder of World Cleanup Day (Let’s Do It World).

The delegation was warmly received and hosted by Professor Dr. Firdaus Abdullah, Rector of UiTM Sarawak, Prof. Madya Ts. ChM. Dr. Mohammad Isa Mohamadin, Deputy Rector of Academic and International Affairs, Prof. Ir. Dr. Juferi Idris, Deputy Rector of PJI, Ts. Dr. Eng.Tech Noorsaidi Mahat, Coordinator of the Campus Sustainability Committee and UiTM Green Centre (UGC) UiTMCS, alongside members of the university’s senior management and leadership team.
Through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, the three parties agreed to jointly establish the ASEAN–Sarawak AI Innovation Centre, a regional platform dedicated to advancing artificial intelligence education, innovation, and industry application.

Under the cooperation framework, KLUST will play a coordinating role in engaging leading artificial intelligence universities and institutions from China, working closely with UiTM Sarawak and Digiland to develop applied, market-oriented AI initiatives that support regional development.
The AI Innovation Centre will focus on:
- Enhancing graduate employability
- Supporting entrepreneurship and startup development, particularly for fresh graduates
- Delivering AI-enabled solutions for industry and enterprises

In addition, the collaboration will promote research and development (R&D), sustainable innovation and commercialisation, as well as student and faculty exchange programmes, strengthening cross-border cooperation between Malaysia, China, and the ASEAN region. KLUST is honoured to contribute to this initiative, which aligns with Sarawak’s vision for sustainable, technology-driven development and has received strong support from the Sarawak State Government. The University looks forward to working with its partners to position Sarawak as a key AI innovation and talent hub in ASEAN.
