Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology (KLUST) celebrated a momentous occasion on July 9 with its Back-to-Campus Day, which featured the official launch of the KLUST Expert Talk Series.
The event was highlighted by a keynote speech delivered by Professor Chen Xiaoyun, Chairman of KLUST and Star Teenagers International Group, titled “Starlit Departure: Shaping the Tech Pioneers of Tomorrow’s World.” In his address, Professor Chen emphasized that KLUST is not merely nurturing a university, but pioneering a new era of innovation, global vision, and educational leadership.

He unveiled KLUST’s strategic blueprint to cultivate a new generation of “Star Youth”—individuals driven to explore the unknown, transform industries through innovation, embrace global diversity, and lead with creativity and resolve. Central to this mission are KLUST’s Four Elite Talent Development Goals: the formation of Technology Elites, Education Elites, Business Elites, and Public Service Elites, each with dedicated pathways for implementation.
To realise these ambitions, the graduates of KLUST must possess a combination of strong professional expertise and four key capabilities: the ability to master and creatively apply new technologies (especially in fields like AR and Artificial Intelligence); a holistic, multidimensional growth model termed the “Five-Metal Development”; the capacity to translate academic research into real-world impact; and the skills necessary for global cooperation and service-oriented advancement. Together, these traits form the cornerstone of KLUST’s academic philosophy and student development model.
Professor Chen urged students to uphold the spirit of pure hearts, high aspirations, and the courage to pursue their unique future in the vast frontier of technology.

The ceremony also included the formal appointment of KLUST’s new Chancellor, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Aseh bin Hj Che Mat, KLUST’s new Advisor Dato’ Sri Ir. Chong Ket Pen, and the appointment of a new Board of Governors (BoG) member, Ir. Edward Khoo Mong Wei, reinforcing the institution’s leadership framework and academic direction.
Renowned scholars delivered opening lectures in the KLUST Expert Talk Series, including Academicians from the Academy of Sciences Malaysia and Universiti Malaya, Beijing Normal University, Anhui University, and Nanjing University. Their lectures focused on current challenges and emerging trends in Artificial Intelligence, Higher Education, and Strategic Management, offering valuable insights from both local and international perspectives. The Expert Talk Series will continue throughout the week, offering KLUST students an immersive, interdisciplinary platform that reflects the university’s global orientation and academic ambition. As KLUST opens its Stargate of Knowledge, it invites students to embark on a bold academic journey marked by vision, innovation, and excellence.
