KUALA LUMPUR, 6 June 2026 – As part of its 130th anniversary celebrations, Chan She Shu Yuen Clan Association Kuala Lumpur & Selangor (CSSY) hosted the Hall of Fame: Distinguished Speakers Series, featuring speakers from the cultural and education sectors. Dato’ Tang Zhi Nian, President of CSSY, together with members of the association’s leadership, attended the event. Professor Chen Xiaoyun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology (KLUST), was invited to deliver a keynote address.

Dato’ Tang Zhi Nian highlighted the significance of the association’s 130th anniversary, describing it as not only an important milestone in its history but also an opportunity to honour the contributions of its forefathers and look towards the future. He noted that the Distinguished Speakers Series was one of several commemorative programmes organised as part of the anniversary celebrations. He further shared that the pioneers who established Chan She Shu Yuen 130 years ago carried the mission of preserving Chinese culture, nurturing future generations and fostering unity within the community. Today, the association continues to uphold these founding values through its efforts in cultural preservation, community engagement and educational development.

The event also featured a presentation by Mr. Tan Chai Puan, co-founder of the 24 Festive Drums, titled “The Festive Drums and the Chan Clan Share a Common Homeland: Cultural Roots from Yingchuan to Nanyang.” His presentation explored the origins and development of Chinese cultural heritage and its relevance in contemporary society.

Professor Chen delivered a keynote address entitled “Moral Education and Skills Development: Reshaping the Talent Cultivation Model for Future Generations.” Drawing on his personal growth journey, more than three decades of experience in educational leadership, and insights from Chinese cultural traditions, he shared his perspectives on nurturing future-ready talents. He emphasised that education should not only impart knowledge and skills but also cultivate character, responsibility and a strong sense of social commitment.

During the session, Professor Chen introduced KLUST’s comprehensive talent development framework and highlighted the University’s emphasis on industry-academia collaboration, practice-oriented learning and holistic student development. He encouraged students to pursue both professional excellence and personal integrity as they prepare for the future.

Professor Chen also expressed his appreciation for Chan She Shu Yuen’s contributions to cultural preservation, community cohesion, and education over the past 130 years. He noted that the institution continues to serve as an important platform for promoting cultural heritage and nurturing future generations.

To support educational development, Professor Chen announced that KLUST would provide scholarship opportunities for students from the Chan She Shu Yuen community. On behalf of the association, Dato’ Tang Zhi Nian expressed his appreciation for the University’s support and reaffirmed the shared commitment to empowering young people through education and cultural development.
