Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology (KLUST) welcomed a delegation from Binzhou Vocational College of Science and Technology, China, on 19 August 2026 for an institutional exchange focused on identifying practical opportunities for academic collaboration, knowledge exchange and industry engagement.
The meeting brought together senior representatives from both institutions to discuss areas of mutual interest, with particular attention to the development of programmes and partnerships aligned with the changing needs of technology and industry.

Among the key areas discussed were technology, smart manufacturing, smart healthcare and elderly care, reflecting the growing importance of applied education in preparing graduates for emerging sectors.
Both sides also explored potential models for academic collaboration, including degree progression pathways, dual-diploma programmes, 2+1 and 3+1 study models, curriculum introduction and articulation, and faculty exchange.

Beyond academic collaboration, the discussion highlighted the value of closer connections between education and industry. The delegation from Binzhou Vocational College of Science and Technology shared insights into its New Energy Vehicle “Chery Workshop” project, providing an example of how industry-linked initiatives can support practical learning and skills development.
The institutions also explored opportunities for industry-academia integration and research collaboration, alongside potential opportunities for faculty members to pursue postgraduate studies and strengthen academic exchange between Malaysia and China.

The engagement with Binzhou Vocational College of Science and Technology is a constructive step towards identifying areas where both institutions can build on their respective strengths.
The discussions have established a foundation for further exploration of collaborative opportunities, with the potential to translate shared expertise into meaningful outcomes for students, faculty and the wider education community.
