Following the conclusion of the 2026 RCEP Huangshan Forum, Professor Chen Xiaoyun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology (KLUST), led a delegation to Huangshan University on 1 June 2026 to explore opportunities for academic collaboration and international educational partnerships. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Professor Zhang Xiaoming, Vice President of Huangshan University, along with representatives from the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation.


Chairman Chen Xiaoyun and his delegation visited Huangshan University, including the School of Tourism, the School of Information Engineering training center, and the Huizhou Documentary Heritage Museum. Chairman Chen commended the university’s practice-oriented education model, which is grounded in regional characteristics and closely aligned with industry needs, noting that it lays a solid foundation for future collaboration between both parties.


During the meeting, Huangshan University presented its development overview, academic positioning, and progress in internationalisation. The university emphasised its commitment to strengthening cooperation with KLUST and proposed several initiatives, including the establishment of a Huizhou Culture ASEAN Research Institute in Malaysia, the promotion of Huizhou cuisine through international collaboration, and the development of a Huizhou cuisine workshop to introduce local culinary heritage to Malaysia and Belt and Road countries. It also proposed leveraging digital technologies to build interdisciplinary research platforms and further expand cooperation in student and staff exchanges, as well as joint academic programmes.
Professor Chen introduced KLUST’s achievements in internationalization and industry–academia integration, as well as its participation in the 2026 RCEP Huangshan Forum signing initiatives. He shared KLUST’s experience in cross-border education development and expressed strong support for the proposed collaboration directions. He added that KLUST will establish a dedicated task force to refine the proposed projects and advance their implementation, aiming to achieve resource sharing and complementary strengths.

The visit strengthened mutual understanding between the two institutions and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation in education, research, cultural exchange, and talent development, further enhancing educational ties between Malaysia and China.
