On 2 June 2026, Professor Chen Xiaoyun, Chairman of Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology (KLUST), led a delegation to Anhui University of Science and Technology (AUST) for a collaborative exchange and partnership discussion.
The delegation met with AUST Vice President Professor Rao Ying to explore opportunities for collaboration in talent development, research, academic mobility, and transnational education.
Professor Chen expressed his appreciation for the hospitality extended by AUST and shared an overview of KLUST’s development, educational philosophy, and internationalisation strategy. He highlighted AUST’s strengths in engineering and technological innovation, noting the strong alignment between the two institutions. He also identified engineering, artificial intelligence, oil and gas exploration, and industry-academia collaboration as key areas for future cooperation, while reaffirming KLUST’s commitment to strengthening higher education ties between Malaysia and China.
Professor Rao shared AUST’s achievements in academic development and international engagement, and expressed interest in expanding collaboration with KLUST through joint research, academic exchanges, and the establishment of a Belt and Road International Joint Laboratory.

Both parties discussed a range of potential initiatives, including undergraduate-to-postgraduate progression pathways, faculty and student mobility programmes, collaborative academic offerings, and joint research activities. The visit concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the beginning of a strategic partnership between the two institutions.

Prior to the meeting, the KLUST delegation also toured AUST’s National Key Laboratory and Engineering Training Centre, gaining insights into the university’s research capabilities, advanced facilities, and technological innovations.
This partnership reflects KLUST’s ongoing commitment to internationalisation and educational cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, while creating new opportunities for academic collaboration, talent development, and knowledge exchange between Malaysia and China.
