I received a scholarship from my company to study at IUKL. And apart from gaining more knowledge and academic achievements, I believe that interacting with people from different countries is an enriching experience. Interacting with students from over 50 countries during my studies at IUKL is a rare opportunity that I cherish. I am filled with deep gratitude to God, my family, friends and lecturers at IUKL for the encouragement and support I received throughout my studies at IUKL.
When I was working in my country, I got to know about IUKL from one of the agents that I met there. After I came here, I felt happy because there are a number of Seychellois here in IUKL. They helped me a lot since the first day here and they also took me to many places around Kuala Lumpur. I’m still a newcomer here in Malaysia, but what I like the most about studying here is the environment or the social life around the campus. Many of my classmates are from Brunei, China, and Malaysia, and they are all nice people.
The lecturers were very helpful and supportive. They let the students think outside of the box and explore the opportunities given. The programme itself is a combination of 'by the book' and ' hands on', which makes it easier for me to understand what was taught in class.
When I was searching for a university to continue my studies, I met an agent that suggested that I study in Malaysia. There were a few universities that offered me places, but in the end, I chose IUKL because here there are more Seychellois compared to other universities. Another reason I like Malaysia is because the local food here is delicious. So far from what I have tasted, the nasi goreng ayam is the one that I like the most, its quite spicy, but I like it. Also, about the social life here, the people here are really nice.
Studying in IUKL has taught me a lot in terms of interacting with people from different races and it has improved my knowledge of the construction industry as well. The IUKL staff are very helpful, especially the lecturers. I learnt a lot during my studies. As an example, I learnt how to make a gantt chart for a construction project and the role and responsibility of a project engineer. My position currently is that of a project coordinator. This requires me to coordinate/monitor the jobs that are being done at the site. My studies certainly help me to perform well in my job in terms of how to interact with people and how to handle construction work and manage the workers. I am glad to be part of IUKL community.
I had so much fun studying in IUKL and such sweet memories together with my friends. The nurturing environment in IUKL helped me to excel in my studies. I was grateful to have great and experienced lecturers teaching me and very supportive friends as well. I am now working as a Materials Engineer with one of the construction companies in Saudi Arabia. Right now, I am working in a project called “King Abdullah Financial District”. I am grateful to have gained the knowledge about this field before I started my career. It helps a lot.
I was grateful for being accepted to IUKL and my application process went smoothly. Living on campus is the best choice that I have made. My security is guaranteed. Apart from that, I have ample time to be actively involved in campus activities. I am involved in the International Students Association (ISA). I am the official photographer and in charge of the marketing unit. I was also the president of the Sudanese Society in 2016 and continue to be part of the society until now.
I chose IUKL due to the name itself; Infrastructure University reflects the course that I am taking. Moreover, IKRAM served as a training center for JKR. This convinced me and my parents that this is a good institution for me to study.
The tuition fee in IUKL is very affordable compared to other private universities in Malaysia. The lecturers are very friendly and willing to help us in any way they can. They are also inspiring. I’m taking BTCM in the Engineering Faculty. Studying Construction Management is not easy, but I'm thankful the lecturers in IUKL are very helpful and willing to share their knowledge. I learned the techniques to manage the planning, design and construction of the project (from pre-design to end of the construction). We also learn how to control the cost, time, quality and the health and safety environment. What I like the most is the tuition fee waiver given by IUKL based on their CGPA scores. I got 4 times tuition fee waiver four times which helped me a lot financially. If you maintain your CGPA you can get fee waiver for every semester. I don't regret coming here and I would like to recommend you to join IUKL as I enjoyed it here and I'm pretty sure you would too. I’m a graduate of IUKL and proud of it.
I didn't have the brightest results for my SPM but life is full of surprises and it gets better in time. Studying in IUKL actually changed me into a better person. I became less shy and more talkative. I gained interest in studying and I worked very hard on every assignment and exam. All thanks to the lecturers who patiently guided me. It took me around 3 months after I completed my studies to get a job. I am currently working as a Technical Assistant. My studies definitely helps me in my job as I understand the flow of the construction progress and the terms used, specifically for construction works. My internship as a student helps a lot in my job now. It has prepared me with the right attitude; patience, outgoing and alert. I have to be on my feet, make quick decisions and multitask.
So far the best thing about studying in IUKL or generally in Malaysia, is the weather because its not cold and also not too hot. Since I did not get any scholarship or sponsorship for my study, its kinda cheap for my parents to travel here and to pay for my living expenses and my fees here. Another reason I like IUKL is the social life around the campus where I get to meet many good friends from Yemen, Saudi, Thailand, and many other countries.
Staying on-campus is definitely a good choice. You can choose to either stay at the IUKL hostel or De Centrum apartment. Both are well guarded and safe with 24-hour security. Study wise, everything is great for me. I received 30% tuition fee waiver for the past few semesters. It is good to know that your hard work is appreciated.
