Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology (KLUST), through the Centre for Foundation & General Studies (CFGS), successfully conducted the KLUST 3E: Educate, Empower & Engage for Sustainable Future CSR programme on 5 September 2026 at Pusat Jagaan Kanak Kanak Openhands Fellowship in Kajang, Selangor.
The programme, involving 13 children residing at the foster care home, focused on environmental sustainability through interactive learning and hands-on activities. The programme commenced with an introduction to KLUST, followed by opening remarks by Ms Nalinah Poongavanam, Director of CFGS, and Mr G. Anbalagan, Director and Caretaker of Pusat Jagaan Kanak Kanak Openhands Fellowship.

An engaging sustainability talk on “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” was delivered by Mr Muhammad Hafiz Aiman Hassan, introducing the children to practical ways of caring for the environment. The children then participated in a hands-on plant replanting and flower-pot decorating activity, working alongside KLUST staff and student facilitators.
The KLUST team was led by Dr Gregory Henry Ripan (Project Leader), together with Ms Nalinah Poongavanam, Mr Muhammad Hafiz Aiman Hassan and Mr Adrian Poh Jeffry Poh. Ms Naw Linn Latt Phyu and Ms Nur Awwaliatul Najwa binti Mohd Anuar also contributed as student facilitators.

The programme provided a meaningful platform for learning, creativity and community engagement, while encouraging children to develop greater awareness of environmental responsibility and sustainable living.
